Football Cookies – The Perfect Cookies for Football Fans
Football season is always a good excuse to get creative in the kitchen. These homemade football cookies are made from a classic vanilla cookie dough and a chocolate cookie dough, arranged to look like real soccer balls. They are easy to make, look impressive, and are perfect for enjoying while watching a match with family or friends.
The best part? You only need one basic cookie dough recipe and a little cocoa powder to create the football design. In my Reel, I show exactly how to arrange the dough balls step by step.
Ingredients
Vanilla Cookie Dough
- 360 g all-purpose flour
- 145 g brown sugar
- 90 g granulated sugar
- 130 g melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 7 g baking powder
- 7 g baking soda
- 5 g salt
Chocolate Cookie Dough
- Half of the prepared cookie dough
- 2–3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Cookie Dough
Melt the butter and allow it to cool slightly.
In a large bowl, mix the melted butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth.
Add the eggs and mix well.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until a soft cookie dough forms.
Step 2: Make the Chocolate Dough
Divide the dough into two equal portions.
Leave one half plain.
Add the cocoa powder to the second half and mix until you have a rich chocolate-colored dough.
Step 3: Roll the Dough Balls
Roll small balls from both doughs.
For one football cookie, you will need:
- 6 chocolate dough balls
- 10 vanilla dough balls
Try to keep all dough balls the same size for the best football pattern.
Step 4: Create the Football Design
Arrange the dough balls like this:
⚽ Place 1 chocolate dough ball in the center.
⚽ Surround it with 5 vanilla dough balls.
⚽ Place the remaining chocolate dough balls in the gaps around the center.
⚽ Finish the outer ring with the remaining vanilla dough balls.
If you’re unsure about the arrangement, check out my Reel where I show the pattern step by step.
Step 5: Shape the Cookies
Using the bottom of a glass or a round cutter, gently press the assembled dough into a flat cookie shape.
The football pattern should now be clearly visible.
Step 6: Bake
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
Step 7: Cool and Enjoy
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking tray for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.
Enjoy while watching your favorite match!
